Track 1: The Pointer Sisters – Chainey Do

When I heard about the passing of founding member Anita Pointer on December 31st, 2022, I spent some time listening to their music. The quirky vocalizations on this one caught my ear.

Track 2: Laurie Anderson – Sharkey’s Day

The vocalizations at the end of the previous track brought to mind the introduction to one of my favorite Laurie Anderson tracks. There’s a bit at the beginning that makes me think about the opening chapter of Ray Bradbury’s “Dandelion Wine.”

Track 3: Non Plus Temps – Continuous Hinge

I love the almost Liquid Liquid like bass line here from these local Oakland folks. There’s also a nifty video for this one of the band having a bunch of fun over in the East Bay.

Track 5: TRIGGER CUT – Slipstream

I saw ex KZSU DJ PigInABlanket post a video of these folks playing live and it inspired me to check out more.

A collaboration between Greg Anderson and Robin Wattie from BIG|BRAVE.

The b-side to the once the reaper / d.m.ii release.

Track 8: New Tendencies – A

Another release on the SUPERPANG label I’ve been hearing about over on Mastodon.

Track 9: Bitchin Bajas – Amorpha

Another release I found via Sasha Frerre-Jones’ end of year recomendations.

Track 10: Long Neck – Ants

Found via Bandcamp promotional email.

Another track that jumped out at me as I was listening to a bunch of their music. Just one of the many different sounds they graced us with over the years.
