Teenage Tokota Lachesism

A flier for the Oh Messy Life radio program, consisting of hand written text on top of a photograph of a truck which has been covered in graffiti.

Oh Messy Life – October 5, 2023 Show Notes

Track 1: the Avengers – Teenage Rebel

I saw the Avengers were playing another show and was inspired to throw together a set of early punk bands that played in San Francisco back in the 1970s.

Track 2: The Offs – Hundred Dollar Limousine

This track was recorded live at the legendary Mabuhay Gardens. I first heard of The Offs one night at the Balazo gallery, after the show when most of the audience had left, they set up a film projector and showed Richard Gaikowski’s short film “Deaf/Punk

Track 3: U.X.A. – No Time

The RE/Search Publications photo book “Punk ’77” was helpful when planning this set of music.

Track 4: Negative Trend – How Ya Feelin’ 04:57

The “Punk ’77” book has a quote about how Will’s English accent fooled a lot of folks.

Track 5: The Dils – You’re Not Blank (So Baby We’re Through)

Technically based out of L.A. I’m pretty sure they played a lot of shows up in S.F. around this time.

Track 6: The Nuns – Media Control

Featuring Alejandro Escovedo, of the very very musical Escovedo family.

Track 7: Crime – San Francisco’s Doomed

Going out to all propagators of doom loop hysteria.

Track 8: Pink Section – Midsummer New York

The last time I saw the Avengers play, Penelope Houston was wearing a Pink Section t-shirt.

Track 9: COLLIGNON – Viemos de Longe

Once again, Les Disques Bongo Joe has my number.

Track 10: Ivan y Los Metalicumbieros – Planeta Perron!

From the soundtrack to La Curandera Cumbiambera, described as a Cumbia-Metal-Anime film.

Tack 11: Real Cumbia Activa RCA – El Vacilón, Pt. 2

Another find via Bandcamp promo email.

Track 12: Rex Omar – Tokota

From the self titled EP out on Soundway Records.

Track 13: abracadabra – at the zoo

Another track from this local band with mind-blowingly retro sounds.

Track 14: Uber Magnetic – Upstate Dead

Uber Magnetic is a new collaboration between Jihad the Roughneck MC and Junior Drispol.

Track 15: Bloody Snowman – Look Behind You

I heard that local musician Bloody Snowman had passed away so I pulled out this track from a few years back in tribute.

Track 16: Fnordism – Harmless Lachesism

From the Unknown Colours EP.

Track 17: Elisapie – Taimangalimaaq (Time After Time)

There is a very charming video for this Cindy Lauper cover.

Track 18: Tony Molina – Hangover Song

Here’s hoping Tony recovers soon from his recent injury!
